What to Expect at the Career Fair on November 14, 2019
Tips for Driving/Arrival: Per Illinois law, cell phone use is prohibited in school zones. In addition, there are red-light camera enforced lights in the area. Parking may be found at the north side of the school; refer to the DIRECTIONS tab above for detailed information.
Upon Arrival: Parking will be designated for guests. Please enter through Door 33, which is marked AUDITORIUM. You will check in here to receive your booth locations, identification badge, and welcome gift. Then, please report to your assigned location for set up. Additionally, a continental breakfast will be available during this time.
The Audience: During each session your audience will consist of high school freshmen (14-15 years old). During half of each session 10th-12th grade students are invited to visit if they wish to learn more about potential careers. Visual demonstrations and aids are helpful for many of these students to further their understanding of your topic. Each student will be carrying a “Career Fair Passport.” The Passport instructs each student to discover something interesting about possible career fields.
For Booth Hosts: Some sort of eye-level visual aid is recommended, but not required for your booth. You are welcome to bring items to hand out to the students, but it is not necessary. For many of our students, the Career Fair will be their first introduction to the job market. They will likely visit booths in groups and may not initiate conversation right away, but will be interested in looking at your display. In addition to discovering something interesting to write in their Passports, students are also asked to record your name, title, and business so that they can remember with whom they spoke. Booths will be pre-marked with this information. Here are a few other considerations for your booth:
Lunch: Box lunches will be served! At this time there will be a break in the flow of students. This will allow you to sit, relax, and enjoy your lunch! Please choose a lunch option when registering.
